Hyderabad The country is in need of an integrated agriculture policy for the comprehensive development of the farmers and the nation, said Telangana agriculture minister Singireddy Niranjan Reddy.
Speaking during the first edition of Lighthouse FPO (farmer producer organisation) conclave, held in the city recently, Reddy stressed that agriculture and farming if supported with the right policy has the capability to bring a win-win situation for all its stakeholders. “Agriculture, if done with the right support via an integrated policy for farmers has the potential to lead the nation into better employment, lesser poverty and overall global growth while giving back to the end contributors (farmers). FPOs are increasingly rising up to do the same for them.”
The minister also spoke about integrated farming, diversified crops, digital innovation, and market access.
183 FPOs from across India attended the two-day conclave themed, ‘Building a Resilient FPO Ecosystem.’ The event led to exchange of ideas and discussions on solutions related to scaling FPOs and making them commercially viable.
